Story Overview
The daughter of a noble family that had fallen on hard times during the Taisho period is Ranko Hanamiya. She works as a waitress at the cafe Cassiopeia and is 24 years old and without prospects. One day, a handsome customer unexpectedly handed her a gift. Bewildered, she went back home to learn that the Viscount Chonabashi, a previous family acquaintance, had arrived to carry out the marriage vow made when Ranko was a young child. Although Ranko preferred independence and had no desire to get married, she grudgingly consented to go to the Chonabashi home in order to appease her parents. There, she discovered that Yoichiro, the young man who gave her the gift at the cafe, would be her fiancé.
